Even though the Clay City Eels have not done well against the Bloomfield Cardinals recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Clay City walked away with a 56-45 victory over Bloomfield. The win made it back-to-back wins for Clay City.
Lulu Koehler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with six steals and five rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Kailyn Kirkling, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Clay City's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11. As for Bloomfield, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay City will square off against South Vermillion at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. South Vermillion comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last 18 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Bloomfield, they will head out on the road to challenge Linton-Stockton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Linton-Stockton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bloomfield in Indiana (Linton-Stockton is ranked 84th, while Bloomfield is ranked 364th).
