The Raritan Rockets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 57-34 walloping at the hands of Neptune. While losing is never fun, Raritan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while Neptune is ranked 95th).
Neptune's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Christa Ramos led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Ramos also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Bre Evans, who scored 13 points along with seven steals and six assists.
Raritan's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Neptune, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Raritan will head out on the road to challenge Spotswood at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Neptune, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brick Memorial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
