The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Rowe Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Two Thursdays ago, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North got themselves on the board against Palmview, but Palmview never followed suit. They really took it to the Lobos for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-0 victory at home. Given Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Palmview is ranked 970th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jason Montez, who rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries. Montez is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Jaden Fuentes also helped out as he racked up 102 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 54 points the game before, Rowe were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 35-7 loss at the hands of McAllen Memorial. Rowe was down 21-0 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North's victory lifted them to 6-0 while Rowe's loss dropped them down to 3-3.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 319.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Rowe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 226.3 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North against Rowe in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 63-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
