It was a good run, but United unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Portage Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 59-50 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Portage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bode Layo led the charge by going 9 of 15 en route to 20 points. Another player making a difference was Trae Kargo, who posted 16 points.

United's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-2. As for Portage, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

United wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 92-56 win against Somerset on the 27th. As for Portage, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-38 victory against Bishop Carroll on the 27th.
