Baseball Recap: Tunkhannock Takes a Loss

Tunkhannock extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-10 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mountain View Eagles. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Brandon Kozlansky was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Colin Gregory made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

On Mountain View's side, they let Tanner Holtsmaster and Ziggy Bradford run wild. Holtsmaster went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Bradford went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. Bradford has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tunkhannock will host Hanover Area at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Hawkeyes at the right time seeing as the Hawkeyes are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Mountain View, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Blue Ridge at 4:30 p.m.
