Harrisburg Christian struggled with assists on Friday (the Mount Calvary Christian Chargers had ten more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Harrisburg Christian took a serious blow against the Chargers, falling 71-41. Harrisburg Christian was down 54-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Harrisburg Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cooper Gesswein, who scored nine points along with three blocks. Gesswein hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Judah Kleinschmidt, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Mount Calvary Christian was led to victory by Avery Kopcha and Zach Witmer. Kopcha scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, while Witmer almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Witmer has scored all season. Trey Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Harrisburg Christian and nudges their season record down to 7-9. As for Mount Calvary Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-8.
Harrisburg Christian will head out on the road to challenge the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Conestoga Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Mount Calvary Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Lions at 8:00 p.m. Lancaster County Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
