Southeast Halifax has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the KIPP P Pride at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Southeast Halifax beat Northwest Halifax by the very same score they won with last week: 82-66. Given Southeast Halifax's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while Northwest Halifax is ranked 590th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Trayvese Silver, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Travis Johnson Jr., who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, KIPP P beat Rocky Mount Prep 63-58 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for KIPP P.
Southeast Halifax's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for KIPP P, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything went Southeast Halifax's way against KIPP P in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as Southeast Halifax made off with a 68-43 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southeast Halifax since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
