The Metro-East Lutheran Knights won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They were dealt a 53-9 defeat at the hands of Althoff Catholic. Metro-East Lutheran was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-5.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Metro-East Lutheran struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Althoff Catholic racked up 19 assists.
Althoff Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emilee Travnicek out in front who scored ten points along with three steals. Travnicek has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Lester, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Metro-East Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Althoff Catholic, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Metro-East Lutheran will take on the Piasa Birds at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Althoff Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
