Firebaugh hasn't had much luck against Paramount recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Falcons will head out to face off against the Pirates at 3:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Paramount will be up against a hot Firebaugh team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Falcons blew past Lynwood 15-5 on Tuesday.
Giselle Maravilla was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Ayala, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Firebaugh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lynwood only posted an OBP of .407.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Paramount). They were the clear victors by a 30-5 margin over Bellflower on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Evengelina Asoau, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, two triples, and five RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Mia Flores also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Firebaugh's record now sits at 13-3. As for Paramount, their record is now 8-4-1.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Firebaugh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .593. However, it's not like Paramount struggles in that department as they've averaged .524. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Firebaugh suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Paramount in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
