After flying high against the Valley Lutheran Flames on Thursday, the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles came back down to earth. Bourgade Catholic lost to Benjamin Franklin on the road by a decisive 58-43 margin on Friday. Bourgade Catholic found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 12 fewer assists than your opponent.
Bourgade Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Juliet Botiller, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Botiller's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nizhoni Rainbolt, who scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Leading Benjamin Franklin to victory were Brianna Martin and Madeline Falls. Martin dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Falls scored 18 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Falls hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Lissa Adams was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven steals and six assists.
Bourgade Catholic has fallen quite a ways from their 21-4 record last season and are now at 2-7. As for Benjamin Franklin, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-7.
Bourgade Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Williams at 1:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Hopefully Williams focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. Benjamin Franklin and Many Farms will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 29, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
