Baseball Game Preview: Centreville Academy Tigers vs. West Lincoln Bears

The Centreville Academy Tigers will venture away from home to square off against the West Lincoln Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Centreville Academy turned things around against Christian Home Educators Fellowship on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 14-8 win. Considering the Tigers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The team relied heavily on Kayde Redmond, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Braden Thomassie also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Centreville Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, West Lincoln was not the first on the board last Thursday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victor by a 14-2 margin over Salem. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Caden Seay was incredible, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Smith, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

West Lincoln's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.2 runs. As for Centreville Academy, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-5.
