The Warren County Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the Kettle Run Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warren County will be strutting in after a victory while Kettle Run will be coming in after a defeat.
Warren County had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Manassas Park on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 13-0 shutout. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

Franny Shaffer and Seb France made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Shaffer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, France tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). At the plate, Shaffer earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base, while France got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. France has become a key player for Warren County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jayden Christopher was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Warren County is undefeated when Christopher posts two or more runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Tyler Dolan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Warren County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Kettle Run faced off against Brentsville District two weeks ago. The Cougars took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The win got Warren County back to even at 5-5. As for Kettle Run, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-2.
Warren County might still be hurting after the 8-2 defeat they got from Kettle Run when the teams last played back in March. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
