On the hitting side, Brownsburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin McNeer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Brownsburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pike struck out 12 times.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Ben Davis brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They blew past Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter 14-2 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Giants as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Derek Douglas made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Douglas was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Isaiah Peterson-Pruitt was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Gildon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
The win made it two in a row for Brownsburg and bumps their season record up to 15-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Ben Davis, their record now sits at 5-16.
Ben Davis' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Brownsburg has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. Everything went Brownsburg's way against Ben Davis in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as Brownsburg made off with an 11-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
