Softball Recap: Brashier Middle College Charter Has No Trouble Against Emerald

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Liberty, Brashier Middle College Charter was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Emerald Vikings with a sharp 16-5 victory. The Bengal have beaten the Vikings the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Vikings has come to flipping the script.

Kaylee Coker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brashier Middle College Charter let Lily Burton and Katie Loewecke run wild. Burton got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Loewecke got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Burton has posted since back in March. Brooke Jones was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.

Brashier Middle College Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emerald only posted an OBP of .414.

Brashier Middle College Charter's record is now 6-13. As for Emerald, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Brashier Middle College Charter will welcome Greenville H at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Emerald, they will challenge Laurens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
