Orangefield has gone 6-1 against Anahuac recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Orangefield Bobcats take on Anahuac Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Orangefield is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
On Friday, Orangefield made easy work of Warren and carried off a 12-3 victory. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.
Matthew Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Sanches, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Carson Worthy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double.
Meanwhile, Anahuac earned a 5-1 win over East Chambers on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.
Logan Trotter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Anahuac is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-7-1 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Eli Swonke was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Noah Smith also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Orangefield's record is now 13-2. As for Anahuac, their record now sits at 5-8-1.
Orangefield was able to grind out a solid victory over Anahuac when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Does Orangefield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Anahuac turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
