Basketball Recap: Wink's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

After a string of three wins, Wink's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 66-57 to the Fort Stockton Panthers. The Wildcats lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in December of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 78-42 score last time.

Despite the loss, Wink saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Layne Lusby went 5 for 8 on his way to 16 points. Abram Bell was another key player, going 5 of 11 en route to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Aundre Washington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fort Stockton, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Washington has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Diego Ronquillo, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Wink's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for Fort Stockton, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Wink didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-52 win against Compass Academy on the 28th. As for Fort Stockton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-61 victory against Portales on the 27th.
