The Litchfield Purple Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Auburn Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Litchfield is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 13-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Litchfield came up short against Southwestern and fell 32-24.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Emma Diveley, who scored ten points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Daphney Hartel, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Litchfield were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwestern only posted four assists.
Meanwhile, Auburn ended up a good deal behind Maroa-Forsyth on Monday and lost 38-23. While losing is never fun, Auburn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Maroa-Forsyth is ranked 144th).
Litchfield has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-24 record this season. As for Auburn, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-15.
Litchfield took a serious blow against Auburn in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 56-21. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Litchfield was down 31-9.
