Kennebunk and Massabesic are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Rams will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Kennebunk has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Kennebunk had taken Scarborough down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Rams came up short against the Red Storm, falling 14-3.
Paige Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Evelyne Roper, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Massabesic and Noble have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Knights. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Madison Proctor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Devenny Brickett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That run marked the first that she has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Gerrish, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
The win got Massabesic back to even at 2-2. As for Kennebunk, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Massabesic's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kennebunk has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. It's a different story for Massabesic, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Kennebunk's hitters?
Kennebunk skirted past Massabesic 8-7 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
