Wakefield School has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Randolph-Macon Academy Yellow Jackets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wakefield School's defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so Randolph-Macon Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
After soaring to a 23-point victory in their last game, Wakefield School came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Immanuel Christian by a score of 24-21. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wakefield School has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Wakefield School had strong showings from Aya Mason, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, and Ceci Turner, who scored three points along with seven steals and five assists. Mason is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Randolph-Macon Academy put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Quantico 51-12 on the road.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Randolph-Macon Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kay Perry, who scored 21 points. Perry continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Berkley Bennett was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Wakefield School's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-1. As for Randolph-Macon Academy, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Wakefield School skirted past Randolph-Macon Academy 37-35 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wakefield School since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
