Basketball Recap: Nixon Gets the Win

After losing to Martin the last time they met, Nixon decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Nixon Mustangs snuck past the Martin Tigers with a 34-28 victory on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Nixon found their leader in freshman Victoria Lopez, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Delaney Guevara, who put up six points.

Rochelle Cranston and Cristina Marquez certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Cranston had nine points, while Marquez earned ten points and four steals.

Nixon now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Martin, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season.

Nixon will host Rio Grande City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Martin, they are taking a road trip to square off against Roma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
