The Acton-Boxborough Colonials waltzed into their matchup Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They greeted the New Year with with a 49-30 win over Newton South. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Acton-Boxborough has scored all season.
Shannon Patrick was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Acton-Boxborough's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Baytarian, who scored 11 points.
Acton-Boxborough's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Newton South, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Acton-Boxborough will head out on the road to face off against Westford Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Newton South, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cambridge Rindge & Latin at 6:00 p.m.
