The Springport Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Homer with a sharp 65-45 win on Wednesday. Springport's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Maddux Locke continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Springport's points. Another player making a difference was Brenna Crittenden, who scored nine points along with five steals.
The victory (which was Springport's third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33 points. As for Homer, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springport will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Hudson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 456th, while Springport is ranked 175th). Homer will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Concord at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
