Parkland and Emmaus are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Parkland 4.1, Emmaus 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Parkland's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Louis E. Dieruff 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Amelia Dawson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Scerena Reed, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Parkland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Emmaus had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They came out on top against the Zephyrs by a score of 4-1.
Mari Eiswerth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Avery DeFanti was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Emmaus' win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Parkland, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Both Parkland and Emmaus just can't seem to miss. The Trojans have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Emmaus struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Parkland might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Emmaus in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
