Whitehall hasn't had much luck against Melrose-Mindoro recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vikings will challenge the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Whitehall has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Independence/Gilmanton hit Whitehall with a five-run third inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings came up short against the Indees, falling 12-1.
Whitehall saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Poeschel, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Brynna Schneider also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Melrose-Mindoro entered their tilt with Aquinas on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Blugolds. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Bella Rozek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Opal Buchanan was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Lauralee Stanton, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Melrose-Mindoro lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2025.
Melrose-Mindoro's record now sits at 13-3. As for Whitehall, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Whitehall might still be hurting after the 20-9 defeat they got from Melrose-Mindoro in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
