The Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders are still undefeated this season after their contest against the Bingham Miners on Wednesday, but the Bingham Miners came as close as anyone has to beating them. Monsignor Scanlan sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-36 victory over Bingham. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Monsignor Scanlan has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Bingham lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brianna Badonie. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. Badonie scored a full 52.8% of Bingham's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Addy Horsley, who scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Monsignor Scanlan's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Bingham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Monsignor Scanlan will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against South Shore on December 28th. Bingham won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Columbia at 10:50 a.m. on December 21st. Columbia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 81st in Idaho, while Bingham is ranked ninth in Utah).
