After flying high against the Spotsylvania Knights last Friday, the King George Foxes came back down to earth. King George took a serious blow against Chancellor on Tuesday, falling 64-35. While losing is never fun, King George can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 366th, while Chancellor is ranked 171st).
King George's loss came despite strong showings from Eli Trulow and Daniel Boyd. Trulow scored 12 points, while Boyd scored six points.
King George struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Chancellor pulled down 21 offensive rebounds.
Chancellor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Seth Hunter led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Charles Brown, who scored ten points along with two steals.
King George has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season. As for Chancellor, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-8.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Culpeper County the next time they take the court. King George will head out to face Culpeper County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Chancellor will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
