It was a good run, but Lake Station Edison unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Wheeler Bearcats by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting Eagles of the 10-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Joaquin Hernandez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Gael Gutierrez, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Lake Station Edison's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Wheeler, they moved to 7-10 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Lake Station Edison had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
