The Legacy Lightning will square off against the Longmont Trojans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Legacy knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Longmont likes a good challenge.
Legacy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Horizon, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lightning blew past the Hawks 12-4 on Thursday. Considering the Lightning have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Braidon Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Soren Monzyk looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jason Olsen, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ethan Sanchez, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Legacy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Horizon only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Longmont came up short against Silver Creek on Thursday and fell 7-4. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Raptors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Longmont also got a good showing from Bryce Smaic, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, Smaic didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Longmont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mac Paddock, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Legacy's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-4. As for Longmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
