The Catalina Foothills Falcons's 24-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell just short of Peoria by a score of 34-32. Catalina Foothills found out winning isn't easy when your three-point shooting is a whole 28% worse than the opposition.
Despite the loss, Catalina Foothills saw an underclassman step up: Kayanna Chief scored 16 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alessandra Egginton, who scored 6 points along with 8 rebounds.
It was another big night for Michelle Kogbara, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds for Peoria. The match was Kogbara's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cieraka Lynch, who scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds.
Catalina Foothills now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Peoria, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Catalina Foothills' road trip will continue as they head out to face Xavier College Prep at 3:00 p.m. on November 25th. Xavier College Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Catalina Foothills in Arizona (Xavier College Prep is ranked third, while Catalina Foothills is ranked 81st). As for Peoria, they will face off against Arizona College Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Arizona College Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday.
