It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Aspen Skiers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past Forge Christian with a 58-53 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Aspen also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2021.
Aspen got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tommy Franceschi out in front who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Jack Berro was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Despite the loss, Forge Christian still got an impressive performance from Peyton Miller, who scored 21 points. The match was Miller's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Burke Jasa, who scored six points.
Forge Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Aspen and bumps their season record up to 4-1. As for Forge Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Aspen will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Florence at 5:30 p.m. on December 21st. Hopefully Florence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday. Forge Christian and D'Evelyn will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully D'Evelyn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Wednesday.
