If the Maryvale Prep Matador were feeling good off their 57-34 takedown of the Mayer Wildcats last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Maryvale Prep suffered a tough 83-60 loss at the hands of Crismon on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Tuesday (57), Maryvale Prep still had to take the loss.
Several Matador players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Salcedo, who scored 15 points. Corban Myers was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with 5 steals.
Crismon found their leader in underclassman Micah Joynes, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals. Joynes continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Whitsell, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals.
Maryvale Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Crismon, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maryvale Prep will take on North Phoenix Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crismon, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Tempe at 7:00 p.m. Tempe is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
