The Thomas Nelson Generals will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Christian Educational Consortium Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Thomas Nelson's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell to Henry County 63-59.
Christian Educational Consortium has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 24 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Richmond HomeSchool 86-43 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-28.
Christian Educational Consortium relied on the efforts of Deven Moore, who scored 23 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds, and Nathan Johnson, who scored 32 points along with 7 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Christian Educational Consortium's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Hawkins, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The losses dropped Thomas Nelson to 0-3 and Henry County to 1-2.
Thomas Nelson came up short against Christian Educational Consortium in their previous meeting back in February, falling 68-61. Thankfully for Thomas Nelson, Caleb Hartlage (who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
