The matchup between the Shafter Generals and the Wasco Tigers on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. Shafter simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wasco 73-46 at home. That looming 73-46 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Shafter yet this season.
It was another big night for Shaun Maldonado, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Ian Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Wasco lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jonatan Cruz Perez, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Lopez, who scored 11 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Shafter and bumps their season record up to 9-10. As for Wasco, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.
Shafter will be playing at home against Chavez at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Wasco will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against McFarland at 6:30 p.m. on January 22nd. The timing is sure in McFarland's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Wasco has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
