Basketball Recap: Angelo Birch's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Neumann Regional Academy over Wellsboro

Neumann Regional Academy was the 70-62 winner over Wellsboro when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Neumann Regional Academy Golden Knights lost to the Wellsboro Hornets at home by a 78-59 margin on Monday.

Several Golden Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Angelo Birch, who posted 14 points. The dominant performance gave Birch a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daiton Thompson, who put up 17 points.

Neumann Regional Academy dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Wellsboro, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Neumann Regional Academy will square off against Central Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Central Mountain is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for Wellsboro, they will face off against Jersey Shore at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Jersey Shore will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Wellsboro surely won't give up without a fight.
