Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Washburn). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cosby Eagles a 34-0 shutout on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pirates needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Washburn got a massive performance out of David Bailey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, four RBI, and one triple. The Pirates are 3-1 when Bailey posts two or more runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Clay, who went 4-for-5 with five runs, five RBI, and one double.

Washburn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .738. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Washburn is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Cosby, they dropped their record down to 1-15-1 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road.

Washburn will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
