On Tuesday, the St. Mary's Lancers faced the Lancaster Legends in a battle between two of the state's top teams. St. Mary's walked away with a 63-55 victory over Lancaster. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
St. Mary's found their leader in underclassman Emily Mcdonald, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds. Mcdonald hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Macey Kovach was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for St. Mary's and bumps their season record up to 10-4. As for Lancaster, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's will take on Nardin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nardin Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while St. Mary's is ranked 17th). As for Lancaster, they will head out on the road to face off against Jamestown at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
