Vidalia is 4-0 against Appling County since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Vidalia Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Appling County Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Vidalia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
After soaring to a 20-point victory in their last game, Vidalia came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Tattnall County by a score of 60-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (55), Vidalia still had to take the loss.
Vidalia might have lost, but man, Hannah Nichols was a machine: she scored 17 points along with four steals. Nichols is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Cristal Franklin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Vidalia were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Appling County came up short against Pierce County on Tuesday and fell 48-36. Appling County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Appling County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Shamiah Barnum, who scored 13 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Ke?niyah White, who scored 11 points.
Vidalia now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Appling County, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.
Vidalia strolled past Appling County when the teams last played back in January by a score of 59-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vidalia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
