It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Gateway Panthers had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-35 win over the Thunder. Winning may never get old, but Gateway sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Gateway was led to victory by Alyssa Marino and Evana Rivera. Marino scored 19 points along with seven assists and six rebounds, while Rivera dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Rivera scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Malayna Stevenson, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Gateway is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. As for Lake Region, they now have a losing record at 10-11.
Gateway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-25 win vs. Lake Wales on the 9th. Lake Region does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
