The Roanoke Valley Christian EAGLES are on the road again on Thursday to play the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys at 4:30 p.m. Both teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Last Monday, Roanoke Valley Christian got themselves on the board against Ridgeview Christian, but Ridgeview Christian never followed suit. They blew past the Crusaders 16-0. The victory was just what Roanoke Valley Christian needed coming off of a 10-1 defeat in their prior match.
Logan Gutierrez and Colton Bowman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Gutierrez tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bowman didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Gutierrez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. At the plate, Gutierrez scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Bowman went 4-for-5 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Roanoke Valley Christian's record is now 3-4. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
