The Larimore Polar Bears will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Richland Colts at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Larimore focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Monday.
Last Monday, Larimore ended up a good deal behind Midway/Minto and lost 59-42. Larimore has struggled against Midway/Minto recently, as their game last Monday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Avery Gratton put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Myers, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Richland lost to Sisseton at home by a decisive 60-42 margin on Thursday.
Despite their defeat, Richland saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nick Mjoness, who scored 11 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Mjoness scored a full 26.2% of Richland's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nick Wulfekuhle, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Larimore bumped their record down to 0-2 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Richland, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Larimore might still be hurting after the 62-39 defeat they got from Richland in their previous meeting back in December of 2017. Can Larimore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
