Johannesburg-Lewiston is a perfect 3-0 against Harbor Springs since May of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cardinals will square off against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Johannesburg-Lewiston has 14 straight wins, Harbor Springs has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Johannesburg-Lewiston's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Pellston as they made off with a 19-0 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.

Emerson Valentine made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Johannesburg-Lewiston got a massive performance out of Madison Peppin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Peppin continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Jaeden Briley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Johannesburg-Lewiston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Harbor Springs lost 16-1 to Cheboygan on Monday.
Johannesburg-Lewiston pushed their record up to 23-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Harbor Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Everything went Johannesburg-Lewiston's way against Harbor Springs when the teams last played back in April, as Johannesburg-Lewiston made off with an 18-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
