The Hill Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Methodist Children's Home Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
Hill struggled with assists on Thursday (Chisholm Trail Academy had 20 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hill ended up on the wrong side of a tough 65-42 walloping at the hands of Chisholm Trail Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Hill has suffered against Chisholm Trail Academy since December 7, 2015.
Despite the defeat, Hill had strong showings from Jonah Brown, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Kevin Hudson, who scored 23 points. That was a full 54.8% of Hill's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Methodist Children's Home gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 61-36 margin over Valor Preparatory Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Methodist Children's Home.
Methodist Children's Home's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Williams led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Londen Bickham, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Methodist Children's Home, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Hill have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 21.3 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Methodist Children's Home, though, as they've been averaging only 35.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Hill was able to grind out a solid victory over Methodist Children's Home in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 53-44. Will Hill repeat their success, or does Methodist Children's Home have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
