The Sedgwick County Cougars took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat South Platte 56-21 at home. With Sedgwick County ahead 28-3 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Sedgwick County was led to victory by Abigail Dille and Lainee Nein. Dille scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds, while Nein dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Avery Goddard, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
Sedgwick County's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for South Platte, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Sedgwick County will square off against Pagosa Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pagosa Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Saturday. As for South Platte, they will be playing at home against Leyton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
