The Brown County Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Edinburgh Lancers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Brown County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Brown County gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter as they made off with a 19-7 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
The team relied heavily on Cami Keaton, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Frye, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Brown County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .639. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh lost 14-7 to Union County on Saturday. The Lancers haven't had much luck with the Patriots recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Kenna Streeval made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Elizabeth Hernandez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Edinburgh's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Brown County, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brown County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Edinburgh struggles in that department as they've averaged .411. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brown County came out on top in a nail-biter against Edinburgh in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
