Softball Recap: Ysleta Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Ysleta waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Irvin Rockets get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2022.

Kristalee Fonce was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

In other batting news, Cienna Hernandez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two triples. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Gabrielle Escontrias was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Ysleta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .727. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .414 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Ysleta's record is now 11-12-1. As for Irvin, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Ysleta will welcome Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.43 runs per game on average), something the Indians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Irvin, they will venture away from home to square off against Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.74 runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
