Monmouth United is 8-1 against Stark County since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Red Storm will look to defend their home field against the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
Monmouth United took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Princeville get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The Red Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Ian Leffler was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 contests. Nolan Jenks was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stark County). They put the hurt on Bushnell-Prairie City with a sharp 24-13 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rebels needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Keagan Sparks looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Stark County: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 2-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Wyatt Snider was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaiden Turnbull, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Stark County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.2.
Monmouth United's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Stark County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.
Monmouth United couldn't quite finish off Stark County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 5-3. Will the Red Storm have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
