Cherokee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Tonkawa Buccaneers, falling 67-42. One positive for the Chiefs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Tonkawa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Westyn Freeman led the charge by going 7 for 17 on his way to 17 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Dailey, who posted 11 points and seven boards.

Cherokee's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Tonkawa, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.

Cherokee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-41 loss against Perry on the 14th. As for Tonkawa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-49 win against Garber on the 13th.
