Make it 11 blowout wins for the Okawville Rockets this season. They claimed a resounding 65-29 victory over Sparta at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-14.
Alayna Kraus was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with three steals. Kenley Hackstadt was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
When it comes to explaining why Sparta lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Kenzie Pierce. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with two steals. That was a full 55.2% of Sparta's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liberti Johnson, who scored nine points.
Okawville's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Sparta, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-17.
Okawville will head out on the road to square off against the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sparta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
