Kit Carson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots 58-42. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Kit Carson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Avery Johnson out in front who went 6-for-9 to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds. Johnson has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Allyssa Gekeler, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

Despite the defeat, South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sarah Elmore posted 19 points and six rebounds. Eliana Gutierrez was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Kit Carson's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

Kit Carson didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-9 victory against Hanover on the 1st. As for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett], they will challenge Eads at 4:00 p.m. on March 7th. Eads has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
