Vinemont hasn't had much luck against Hanceville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Vinemont barely beat Pennington the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-7 victory on Thursday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 16, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Meanwhile, Hanceville got themselves on the board against Holly Pond on Thursday, but Holly Pond never followed suit. They blew past the Broncos 11-0. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Josi Jones made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lakin McBee was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Twitty, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Hanceville and bumps their season record up to 12-15-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Vinemont, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Vinemont beat Hanceville 4-1 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
